줄거리

1984-85년, 영국의 빌리라는 소년은 자신의 재능은 권투 글러브가 아닌 발레 슈즈라는 것을 깨닫고 발레 수업에 들어가게 된다. 이 사실을 알게 된 빌리의 아버지는 빌리를 말리지만 빌리는 자신의 능력을 인정해 주고 런던의 로얄발레학교 입학 시험을 보라고 격려해 주는윌킨슨 부인과 함께 열심히 오디션을 위해 준비하게 되는데... 1980년 광산 파업으로 인한 지역사회의 투쟁과 가장의 불화에 대응하여 빌리 개인이 전력을 다해 싸우고 책임을 지는 이야기이다.
